Defining Your Core Themes: Wealth Building
Richard was in his late forties when he sought me out for career advice. He was an ambitious and successful executive with a great deal of confidence in his abilities and skills. He had worked for an organization for many years and now had the opportunity to do something different.
After some serious discussion about his goals and objectives and helping him define his Core Themes, it was clear that his number one Core Theme was to achieve a certain degree of wealth within the next five years.
Richard's goal was to amass a fortune of $4 to $5 million by the time he was in his mid-fifties. This meant that he needed to find an opportunity that would not just provide him with a nice fat salary but rather give him the opportunity to either own a company or have a significant equity position within the organization.
Creating a Career Plan
Consequently, Richard put together a job search plan to achieve his wealth goal. Richard is an example of an executive who clearly defined his objectives based on his Core Themes. Yes, Richard has other Core Themes, but he set forth to pursue his primary goal with a sense of purpose and conviction.
